About me

Hi I'm Janna and I am a book whore! I started this blog after being a part of another for years. While being a big blog may be nice I like to stay true to me having a love for books, that's why I blog. I love books and I want to share that love with my readers of this blog. I love to read, books are my escape and a huge part of my life besides my husband and two children. I am honest and sometimes sassy in my reviews but never mean. Some of my favorite authors include Kristen Ashley, Penelope Douglas, T.M. Frazier, M.N. Forgy, Rachel Van Dyken, Meghan March and Vi Keeland to only name a few!

Please note that I am the ONLY reviewer on the blog beyond a few guest reviews. It has been brought to my attention that people not associated with my blog have been requesting ARCs please if you ever question a request please email me at the blog's email.

Release Blitz! Royal Catch By Kylie Gilmore

A gruff prince in need of a wife
A commoner impersonating a princess
And a bridal competition gone terribly awry…

I am the crown prince of Villroy, heir to a kingdom, bound by duty to marry and produce an heir.
I expected a quiet arrangement through royal channels, instead I got a palace full of women vying for my hand. And how do they “win” this barbaric game set up by my crafty mother? By figuring out how to save the kingdom’s faltering economy through a series of challenges. This undignified circus is beneath a man of my stature! Proof being that a saucy, ill-mannered woman wearing body-hugging clothes is in the lead. I could never love someone like that, let alone marry her.

The plan sounded simple.
I pose as my friend, pick up her inheritance, and return with the cash to keep her out of jail. (Apparently, being a princess in hiding is no excuse for identity theft.) So, yeah, I’m not exactly royal. I’m an orphan, a self-made woman, and proud of it. Suddenly I’m in a battle royale with a bunch of crazy competitive women for “riches beyond our dreams.” I’m in a time crunch, which means I need to win this competition fast. Only, that means winning over the judge; the smoldering hot grim-faced Gabriel. And now I find myself wanting to compete for more than just the money. But could a royal prince ever fall for a commoner like me?
I’ll be honest, for a while there I almost set Royal Catch aside because I just was not connecting to any of the characters at all, but I kept at it and eventually became invested enough to finish the book. That being said, overall, I liked Royal Catch, I just didn’t love it like I had hoped I would have. I love royal romances, there is just something about possibly becoming a princess or prince that tugs at the little girl inside of me that still loves princess movies and the fairytale of happily ever after, so when this one didn’t meet that mark, I was let down.

Polly aka Anna is trying to help out a distant cousin and attempts to pull off being a princess when she is anything but one. She was quirky, a bit rough around the edges and yet those things made her standout in a good way at times versus being the negative it should have been. Gabriele at times had a stick up his royal ass but once Anna breaks through that icy wall that he surrounds himself with, he is actually a likable character. Add in the whole princess survivor games his parents planned and there is a whole lot going on.

At the end of the day Royal Catch was an okay book that I hoped would have been better, but I am invested enough to want to read the next one in the series when I am able to.
