“How long do you last in bed?” Those were her first words to me, swiftly followed up with, “And how big would you say you are?”
Cue the record scratching, what?!
Persephone Alexander. Math genius. Lover of blazers. The only girl I know who can make Heidi braids look sexy as hell. And she’s on a mission. Lose her virginity by the end of the semester.
I walked in on her interview session for potential candidates (who even does that?) and saw straight through her brave front. She’s got a list of Firsts to accomplish like she’s only got months to live. I’ve decided to be her guide for all her firsts except one. Someone’s got to keep her out of trouble. I have one rule, no sex. We even shook on it.
I’ll help her find the right guy for the job. Someone like her doesn’t need someone like me and my massive...baggage for her first time.
Drinking at a bar. Check.
Partying all night. Double check.
Skinny dipping. Triple check.
She’s unlike anyone I’ve ever met. The walls I’d put up around my heart are slowly crumbling with each touch that sets fire to my soul.
I’m the first to bend the rules. One electrifying kiss changes everything and suddenly I don’t want to be her first, I want to be her only. But her plan was written before I came onto the scene and now I’m determined to get her to re-write her future with me.
Maya Hughes is quickly becoming an author that this book whore loves and doesn’t hesitate to read her newest release. The Perfect First is another new adult romance that once I got into the story I didn’t want to set it down. Part angst, part emotional, a whole lot of sexy and a few laugh out loud moments all made The Perfect First a book that I really enjoyed. The premise of the book is wat made me want to read it but characters like Persephone aka Seph and Reece are what made me fall in love with their story.
My heart broke for Seph more than once while reading, from the way she was raised, the bitch roommate, the lack of feeling like she was enough really made my heart ache. Especially the feeling of never being good enough, that is something that I have felt in the past and still feel at times. I rarely quote a book because what moved me may not move others, but this simple sentence hit the nail on the head of how I have felt and I think it is why I connected with Seph as much as I did.
“It’s hard to believe it when you’ve never been enough, when no matter how hard you try, you’re always lacking.”
That right there is a feeling I have felt a lot in my life and it was like the author had a direct link to my insecurities and soul. Reece had his own insecurities, his own feelings of not being enough but for different reasons. Reece was perfect for Seph and she was perfect for Reece. Even when Reece does something made me want to beat him I couldn’t help but love him still.
If you are looking for a new New Adult romance then you need to have The Perfect First on your TBR lists because this is not only the first book in the series but one that you won’t want to miss out on.
