Life lesson number two… If you’re dumb enough to let the love of your life go, don’t let years pass without trying to get him back.
Life lesson number three… If he does come back, don’t help him take over your father’s multi-million-dollar company…even if your father had it coming.
I fell in love, had it all, and lost it all in the blink of an eye. I was young, naïve, and not in control of my own life. I was resigned to the fact that I would never see Sam again. So when I attended a meeting with the unknown buyer initiating a hostile takeover of my father’s company, I was stunned and horrified to come face to face with Sam. Only this wasn’t the Sam that I remembered. Gone was the sweet, romantic, kind boy I loved, and in his place was a cold, ruthless, and calculating man. Maybe I was right. Maybe I would never see my Sam again… or would I?
The Long Way is an emotional second chance romance that I personally enjoyed very much. I love second chance romances, this is not a secret, for me there is something about having that history that bring more emotions, more angst, more stomach knotting moments while reading the characters working their way back to each other. For me, if you can feel like you are living those moments with the characters like they were your own, then that is what a second chance romance should be. The Long Way had me feeling like I was living it with the characters.
Ashton and Sam’s characters were ones that I truly enjoyed reading about. Their story was one that I was quickly consumed with and wanted to know what would happen between these two, if they could move past the pains from their past or if not. Obviously I will not give the ending away but be prepared to feel for these characters and fall in love with them as well.
The Long Way is one book that lovers of second chance romances need to have on their TBR lists, I think they will enjoy it as I did.
