Holy hell I was not expecting Crime Lord’s Captive to immediately suck me into the story like it
did. I love Mafia romances, I love dark
romances and this is both! I can’t
believe I hadn’t read it before now!
One minute you will want to beat Gavin to a bloody pulp,
then you will love him again, and then repeat that cycle over and over again. At one point I hated him to the point that I
almost set my kindle down but at the same time this book had it’s hooks so
deeply embedded in me that there was no way I could stop reading it. Lyla ran
from Gavin for a reason, and no I won’t tell you what but he’s lucky it wasn’t
me or he would have a permanent limp. Yes,
I know I have anger issues people but this book just brings it out in me more
than usual. I felt for her especially
when she and Gavin were first reunited. The
way he acts was cruel, mean and abusive.
There was an inner battle waging inside of himself and if it wasn’t for
the acts of his father, who I adored by the way, then I don’t think I ever
would have loved Gavin as much as I did.
Lyla needed to be stronger than she was at times, but don’t think she is
a doormat, what she is, is a woman hurt by the actions of the one man she loved
so fiercely at one point that when he broke her he did it in a way that you
aren’t sure if the pieces can ever be restored.
Events that happen in this book will have you on the edge of
your seat one minute, curling into a protective ball in another, throwing your
kindle the next and crying out no that can’t be happening more than once. This one does end on a cliffhanger, and yes I
threw my kindle when I was finished but luckily the next book is already out so
I was able to read it immediately. I’ll
review that one soon, but Crime Lord’s
Captive is a book that I highly recommend reading if you like darker mafia
romances as well as the warning to bubble wrap your kindle because if you are
anything like me you will be throwing it more than once.
