He’s good with his hands, even better with his sexy mouth, and the best at making me forget my own name. His, ahem, stats are perfect.
But I can’t fall for him.
He might be everything I want, all rolled into a glorious package of gridiron god, but there’s one teeny-tiny problem. The vile, loathsome team I’ve spent my entire life hating—my beloved school’s arch-rival?
Before I even start this review for The
Rivalry something must be said. I am
a HUGE U of M fan, my dad had me watching football when I was 3 months old and
have been to numerous games. So Go Blue!
Okay I bet you are wondering if your favorite book whore has
lost her damn mind finally, well we all know I lose it all the time but this
book is about one of the greatest college football rivalries of all time. University of Michigan v Ohio State (boo hiss
boo hiss sorry that is sort of instinctual when it comes to that school). When I saw that Ms. Sloane was doing a book
about these two teams I had to investigate to see if she knew her stuff, she
did and trust me she amazed me and I felt like she almost tapped into my brain
when she wrote Kayla. Why do you
ask? Well it is because Kayla is a
cheerleader for, wait for it, Ohio State. *crosses self and asks for forgiveness
from the football gods for what I am about to type* Kayla is me only in Ohio State form, okay I
was never a cheerleader but her contempt towards my beloved favorite college
was exactly how I sound especially during football season only mine is towards
Ohio State, again Go Blue!. I honestly
think I am worse during an U of M game than when I watch hockey, and trust me
at times it isn’t pretty. She was so
sassy and sarcastic but at the same time she couldn’t help her feelings for,
wait for it, Jay who is one of the star players for U of M. At times I did want to slap her because she
did take things too far but I could understand it, I was raised to hate Ohio
State and she was raised to hate U of M and never the two should be together.
Jay didn’t have a problem with the whole rivalry thing, he
just wanted Kayla because she was perfect for him. Well besides the whole
contempt for U of M thing. He was not
only an amazing football player he was all around a great guy. He wanted Kayla to see him, not the team he
plays for. Does he succeed in that? Well
you will have to read the book to find out because I am not telling you. I loved him and his character, he really was special
all around.
The Rivalry was
hilarious, it was sexy, it made this U of M fan even more anxious about this
weekend’s annual meeting of these two rival teams, and it is a book that I can
highly recommend and one I loved! Nikki
Sloane really did an amazing job with the true depth of this rivalry and
luckily she went to a different school so I can still read her books, just
kidding she is a must have on your must read author lists for sure.
