About me

Hi I'm Janna and I am a book whore! I started this blog after being a part of another for years. While being a big blog may be nice I like to stay true to me having a love for books, that's why I blog. I love books and I want to share that love with my readers of this blog. I love to read, books are my escape and a huge part of my life besides my husband and two children. I am honest and sometimes sassy in my reviews but never mean. Some of my favorite authors include Kristen Ashley, Penelope Douglas, T.M. Frazier, M.N. Forgy, Rachel Van Dyken, Meghan March and Vi Keeland to only name a few!

Please note that I am the ONLY reviewer on the blog beyond a few guest reviews. It has been brought to my attention that people not associated with my blog have been requesting ARCs please if you ever question a request please email me at the blog's email.

Blog Tour! The Brightest Sunset By Aly Martinez

Sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never harm me.
Words destroyed me.
“I’m sorry. She didn’t make it.”
“Daddy, he can’t breathe!”
“There’s nothing more we can do for your son.”
Sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never harm me.
Those syllables and letters became my executioner. I told myself that, if I didn’t acknowledge the pain and the fear, they would have no power over me. But, as the years passed, the hate and the anger left behind began to control me.
Two words—that was all it took to plunge my life into darkness.
“He’s gone.”
In the end, it was four soft, silky words that gave me hope of another sunrise.
“Hi. I’m Charlotte Mills.”

I absolutely loved the first book and was extremely excited to begin The Brightest Sunset. While I still loved this one, I just didn’t as much as I had The Darkest Sunrise but it was close.  Once again I was taken on an emotional roller coaster ride that had me not knowing what side was up when I was done.  I am emotionally drained; I was still drained from the previous book when I began this one and I don’t know when I may level out again.

Aly Martinez has a beautiful ability to engage you while reading her books.  They all have emotional upheavals and angst in them and before she allows your heart to repair itself little by little.  I know you are probably asking yourself why am I not going in depth with this review, well I don’t want to accidentally spoil anything because like the first book you need to experience it for yourself.   Just know that when I say your emotions will be all over the place I am not exaggerating, I love those books that will have you crying one moment and angry the next.  Charlotte and Porter will consume your life while you are reading.

The Brightest Sunset is a book that I can easily recommend, just make sure you have read book one first.  Aly Martinez has once again written a book that will stay with me for a long time to come.

You won't want to miss this amazing series!

Originally from Savannah, Georgia, USA Today bestselling author Aly Martinez now lives in South Carolina with her four young children. Never one to take herself too seriously, she enjoys cheap wine, mystery leggings, and baked feta. It should be known, however, that she hates pizza and ice cream, almost as much as writing her bio in the third person. She passes what little free time she has reading anything and everything she can get her hands on, preferably with a super-sized tumbler of wine by her side.
