The first time I met Caine West was in a bar. He noticed me looking his way and mistakenly read my scowling as checking him out. When he attempted to talk to me, I set him straight—telling him what I thought of his lying, cheating, egomaniacal ass. You see, the gorgeous jerk had wined and dined my best friend--smooth talking her into his bed, all along failing to mention that he was married. He deserved every bit of my tongue-lashing and more for what he'd done. Especially when that lazy smile graced his perfect face in response to my rant. Only it turned out, the man I'd just told off wasn't the right guy. Oops. My mistake. Embarrassed, I slunk out without an apology. I was never going to see the handsome stranger again anyway, right? That’s what I thought…until I walked into class the next morning. Well, hello Professor West, I’m your new teaching assistant. I’ll be working under you…figuratively speaking. Although the literal interpretation might not be such a bad thing—working under Professor West. This was going to be interesting…
Sometimes when we make mistakes they end up being painful lessons learned, but sometimes they turn into something beautiful even if it is after the pain. What if that mistake saved someone? What if it changed their lives changed the path that their life was on? What if it took and ugly situation and made it give someone hope? What if is always the question? Beautiful Mistake is a great example of this. Vi Keeland always hooks me in instantly when I am reading a book written by her, that’s one of the reasons why I don’t ever hesitate to read one of her books. Beautiful Mistake was emotional, funny, and sexy, it had angst, it had secrets that could destroy and it was a book I couldn’t put down.
Caine West. My oh my he could teach me anything he wanted! He is sexy, a bit broken and I loved the depth his character had. There is more to this sexy professor than meets the eyes, and when the layers of who he is are revealed you figure out exactly what is going on and you can’t help but want things to be okay for him. Sometimes we make stupid mistakes, things that we never intended to set forth and do but soon it is too late and things go to a whole new level. I never would want to be in the position Cain had put himself in, the weight of that alone was heartbreaking.
Rachel was sassy but at the same time broken. Her past was not pretty; it is truly heartbreaking and painful. I just wanted to wrap her in my arms and say I know that attitude and sass are your protective walls, and I get the reason why you have them, but that I wish I could take it all away for you. The more you read, the more you piece together, the more emotional it becomes. Rachel needed a protector in her life so to speak, could Caine be that person or was he already?
Beautiful Mistake was beautifully written and another example why I love this author as much as I do. She has the ability to take something painful and turn it into something healing and beautiful. This is a must read and should be on the top of your TBR lists! I plan on reading this one more than once for sure.
