Ethan is the boy who climbed into my bedroom every night.
He’s everything I love.
Laced with everything I despise.
He’s every happy memory.
And every shattered dream.
He’s my everything.
But he broke every part of me.
I’m supposed to hate him.
But I can’t.
I don’t know how.
While I was reading Broken Dreams it brought out a lot of emotions that I thought I had buried deep. Dreams of my own that were broken so many years ago, hopes that were crushed, and really has made me the way I am today, to not get my hopes up because when I do they get crushed. Broken Dreams is about heart break, the loss of a dream, a broken friendship, and the chance to repair the damage that was left behind when hearts were broken.
In Broken Dreams we get both the past and present. It is told in Leslie’s POV and shows the progression of Leslie and Ethan’s relationship. Memories of when they were kids, fights that they had, moving from friendship to being in a relationship. These two are the halves to the other one’s soul. It is apparent from the start that they were meant to love each other. When something happens, something that changes both Leslie and Ethan’s futures, that dreams are broken as well as hearts it breaks the two souls apart. My heart broke for both Leslie and Ethan. I do wish we had gotten Ethan’s POV in this book, to really understand where his mind was and how he felt for Leslie.
Broken Dreams is a book full of ups and downs, heartbreak and loss, second chances and new dreams. I went on an emotional journey with Broken Dreams, one that has tears forming in my eyes now as I type this. This is a book that really touched a part of my soul and gave me hope that maybe not all of my dreams are lost or broken. This is a must read for sure.
