Twist is the
second book in the Dive Bar series
and I must say that I liked it a lot more than I did Dirty. I was both excited
and hesitant before starting Twist. Twist was funny, it had angst, it was
sexy, and emotional. It drew me in and
didn’t want to let me go.
But, unfortunately there is the dreaded but, for the first
80% of Twist I hated Alex with a
passion. Luckily though there was so
much other good with Joe and the rest of the gang that it didn’t take away from
my enjoyment and I did begin to warm up to her and eventually liked her. Alex well Alex is a bit neurotic at times I
guess you could say. Her reasons for
certain events in her past were ridiculous and childish but they all added to
the way she is now. Her friendship with
Val was a beautiful thing and I am glad that Ms. Scott brought that into the
story because it showed not only the depth that she could care for someone but
also brought light to what people still don’t always understand.
Joe, oh sweet stupid Joe.
I forgive you for the whole pretending to be your brother thing but man
you and Alex are like oil and water at times.
The back and forth insults, the banter, all of it was strangely a form
of foreplay. Joe was sweet and sexy and
caring but still a bit of a stubborn man but he just really was a good guy deep
down and had a heart of gold. Although I
did want to slap him upside the head a time or two but even then I couldn’t stay
mad at Joe. Joe was exactly what Alex
needed.
Now when something happens, it is so tragic and
heartbreaking that I had to set my kindle down to cry. No I will not say what happened because I won’t
spoil it but that added angst and the emotions it draws out from deep inside
your heart and soul was painful but gave the plot that added depth. There are also a couple of favorite
characters that make an appearance and I loved the scenes with them in it.
Twist renewed my love for Kylie Scott and made me want to continue
on with this series. This is a book that
I can easily recommend!
