I’m NHL defenseman Lance Romero, AKA Lance “Romance."
I’m notorious for parties and excess. I have the most penalty minutes in the league. I get into the most fights. I take the most hits. I’m a player on and off the ice. I’m the one women with no inhibitions want.
Not because I like the notoriety, but because I don’t know how to be any other way.
I have secrets. Ones I shared with the wrong person, and she used them against me. Sometimes she still does. I should cut ties. But she makes it difficult, because she’s the kind of bad I deserve.
At least that’s what I believed until someone from my past gets caught up in my present. She’s all the good things in this world. She lights up my dark.
I shouldn’t want her.
But I do.
I should leave her alone.
But I won’t.
I had wanted Lance’s story for several books now. I never imagined that when I started Pucked Off I would laugh, cry, want to commit murder and wrap my arms around Lance as much as I did and just take away all the bad he thought and felt. I had a small idea of what could be Lance’s story but nothing like what I read. If you are looking for the full out comedic relief some of the other books have given you, you may be disappointed but what you do get is at times a heart breaking, emotional romance that will have you believing that love really can heal a broken soul. I read this right when it was released but never found the right words or what I am hoping will be the right words until now to review it.
Lance aka Romeo, he is the playboy, he is the one who loves to party and have a variety of different willing bed partners and sometimes more than one at a time. But what if all of that partying and is covering up hurt. What if, he wanted something more from someone (if you have read the series you know who I am talking about) but all that person did was cause more heartache and pain? What if the perfect person for you is one you have met before and either didn’t remember or was too distracted to see what was right in front of you?
I won’t say who the heroine is, and yes I am aware that this book has been out for about a month now but I respect Ms. Hunting plus the discovery of who she is is part of the journey. Just know that I loved her for Lance, there could not have been a better choice for him. She (and I really do feel bad just calling her she but I swore I wouldn’t spoil it and I am keeping that promise), really helped Lance in so many ways. Friendship, love, stability these are all things that Lance needed in his life and when you read the book you will understand why I am saying that and I think you will agree that she was a huge part of him healing.
Pucked Off is a standalone but honestly you will want to read all the books in this series because they really are all that good and personally this series is a favorite of mine. Helena Hunting has a fan for life in this book whore; add Pucked Off to your TBR lists immediately!
