Some men are born responsible, some men have responsibility thrust upon them. Henry Charles Albert Edgar Pembrook, Prince of Wessco, just got the motherlode of all responsibility dumped in his regal lap. He’s not handling it well. Hoping to force her grandson to rise to the occasion, Queen Lenora goes on a much-needed safari holiday—and when the Queen’s away, the Prince will play. After a chance meeting with an American television producer, Henry finally makes a decision all on his own: Welcome to Matched: Royal Edition. A reality TV dating game show featuring twenty of the world's most beautiful blue bloods gathered in the same castle. Only one will win the diamond tiara, only one will capture the handsome prince’s heart. While Henry revels in the sexy, raunchy antics of the contestants as they fight, literally, for his affection, it’s the quiet, bespectacled girl in the corner—with the voice of an angel and a body that would tempt a saint—who catches his eye. The more Henry gets to know Sarah Mirabelle Zinnia Von Titebottum, the more enamored he becomes of her simple beauty, her strength, her kind spirit…and her naughty sense of humor. But Rome wasn’t built in a day—and irresponsible royals aren’t reformed overnight. As he endeavors to right his wrongs, old words take on whole new meanings for the dashing Prince. Words like, Duty, Honor and most of all—Love.
There are some books that you are so excited to start when you get it that you just KNOW that it will be one you will love. For me that book was Royally Matched! I loved it. I loved it more than I think I thought was possible. This book just totally enthralled me from start to finish, the emotions that it brought forth, that dream of a royal romance of my very own was renewed and that need for a happily ever after was present.
Prince Henry is now next in line to the thrown after his brother abdicated and to say that he is far from ready or prepared in any way is an understatement. He was the partying brother, but there is a reason behind a lot of his previous playboy ways. Henry really did take hold of my heart fairly quickly and even when I may have wanted to slap him upside the back of his head when he would be a royal ass (see what I did there?) I still couldn’t help but love him.
Sarah is the shy one, the one who doesn’t want to be in the spotlight. For that alone Henry is intrigued by her. She is not a part of the reality show but is there to watch over her sister. Slowly you see a spark in her come through that shows just a bit of a feisty side. She is surprising in a good way. I loved the balance that she brought to not just Henry but to the story as well.
Royally Matched is one of my favorite books of 2017 so far. I love the way that Ms. Chase is able to just completely suck her readers into her storylines; she knows that perfect balance of sexiness, angst, and humor. Royally Matched is just another great example of this and one that I highly recommend!
