There’s no way I’ll fall for Wyatt Hennington.
He can keep his Southern drawl, irresistible smile, and those pick-up lines all to himself. I made the mistake of sleeping with him not once, but twice. I’m not stupid enough to give him round three, especially after he left me in the middle of the night so I could see myself out. I vow to return to Philadelphia and forget him.
It proves easier said than done.
When the doctor informs me I’m the winner of door prize number two, I put my life on hold and head back to Bell Buckle. Three months and if we can’t make this work, I’m gone.
The problem is—when the cards are stacked against us, and I can’t bring myself to leave him, I’ll finally know if he truly loves me or if all my fears were real . . .
I really enjoyed this one. I was able to connect with the story and the characters. I thought the pacing was mostly on point, although a little slow at the beginning, but I think this might be due to the fact that there was some exposition to explain who each of the characters were...whcih was helpful as I have not read the first book in the series.
Wyatt and Angie have wonderful chemistry. Apparently, this starts in the 1st book...but the 2nd one picks up in a place that works and you aren't missing anything if you meet them for the 1st time in this book.
Angie is compelling for her strength, her determination, and her unwillingness to settle. Wyatt for his single handed focus on showing her that they are meant to be together. Things happen that test this, as expected, and you get the HEA you also are expecting.
The ride to that HEA is a little different than I was expecting. Without spo9iling anything, it is safe to say that this book went in a direction I did not see coming.
The writing is stellar, the pacing (aside from the beginning (is wonderful) and the characters are real and relate-able. I like that, on the way to the HEA things that fall into place are explained, people admit to meddling,to wanting things to work, etc...and this makes the falling into place seem real and not contrived.
As I mentioned, this is my first book by Corinne Michaels, but I can say it won't be my last. I am looking forward to the next one in the series and I want to go back and read the first one.
I recommend this book.
