Release Blitz! Written In The Scars By Adriana Locke

Falling in love is easy.

Falling out of love is the hardest thing in the world.

And Elin and Ty Whitt are terrible at it.

The first time the local basketball star smiled at Elin, she was a goner. It was just so damn easy to fall for the dark-haired hometown hero with his charming smile and strong, athletic build.

Thousands of sleepy smiles, aimless drives down country roads, and squeaks of the backdoor after a swing shift later, reality hits. And it hits hard. Falling in love was definitely the easy part. Watching it break apart was impossible.

Through the tears, the second-guesses, the memories of a life built together, the world keeps spinning. With each turn comes clarity and hope—sometimes in the form of a pair of muddy boots by the back door or from the words of a wise friend.

When Ty shows back up with a new found determination to put his family back together, Elin's torn between the fights of the past and the possibility of a new start. This is the man that holds her heart, the man she loves beyond anything else. But this is also the one person in the world that can cause her the most pain.

Life’s not always easy. Love’s not for the faint of heart. But with life comes lessons and Ty and Elin have the scars to prove it. But it's their love written in those scars that will hold them together … or break them apart.

Jesus can someone please find all the pieces of my heart and start to glue them back together because this book fucking shredded it into tiny pieces.  I don’t always cry or get overly emotional in the books I read but when one touches me like this one did, and get your head out of the dirty clouds people cause I don’t mean in that way, but in the way that makes you want to fight especially if you have ever been in a relationship that has begun to fall apart or already has.  Written In The Scars will drain you emotionally, and physically, you will need to have tissues handy and time to be able to get your own emotions under control throughout the entire book.  All I can say is that this is an emotional, heart breaking gut wrenching journey that I think you all must go on, because it really is all of that more.

This was not my first Adriana Locke book but wow did this one gut me in a way that her previous books did not.   With a title like Written in the Scars I certainly wasn’t expecting sunshine and rainbows, but I didn’t know how deeply this book would actually get to me.

This isn’t just a book about a hero and heroine.  Yes, Elin and Ty are the focal point but the supporting characters in this play a huge role as well.  I loved how the author balanced all of them, keeping Elin and Ty’s story in the forefront but giving those supporting characters their due.   This epic love story simply couldn’t be told without them.

I really do enjoy second chance romances, but the second chance here wasn’t what I originally thought it would be.  I’m certainly not complaining about that;  I loved the journey this took me on. I loved that these characters were far from perfect, which made them that much more relatable to me.  There were times I groaned out of frustration with these characters, but who doesn’t feel that way about some people in real life? It’s easy to look in from the outside and want to fix everything, but the author here does a great job of letting the characters figure things out instead of meddling.

I don’t often cry when reading, but I did cry with this book.  There were some scenes that took me a bit to get through, a moment near the end where I almost wanted to put my kindle down and rewrite the story so I wouldn’t cry.  But the events of this book, every step these characters go through, is exactly how it should be-which isn’t always the happy I crave when I read.  This quote sums this book up to me: “Scars stick around to prove you showed up for life. That you lived. That you fought. That you loved.”  If you’re looking for an emotional love story, give this one a try.

I pull her into me, trying to put her, me, our life back together with my embrace. Her arms find my waist, and I hold her in the middle of the driveway, swaying back and forth in a moment I’ll never, ever forget. The feeling of my world careening back into focus, into the places it should be, nearly drops me to my knees with my girl in my arms.

“I should go in,” she says, looking up at me.

“It’s cold in there.”

She shrugs and I see her start to slip away from me again. Frantic, I struggle to find a way to stop it.

“Let’s go for a drive,” I suggest.

She looks at me warily.

“It’s just a drive,” I promise. “The house can warm up and then I’ll drop you back off, if that’s what you want. What can it hurt?”

“You won’t try to make out with me or anything, right?” she teases. “Because I know that look in your eye, Tyler Whitt.”

“Only if you ask,” I wink, opening the door to my truck and watching her climb in. Before I shut it, I lean in and whisper into her ear. “Hey, E.”

“Please ask.”
