Release Blitz & Double Review! The Protector By Jodi Ellen Malpas

People think they have Camille Logan nailed: rich kid, daddy’s girl, beautiful, and spoiled. But Camille knows that support from her ultra-wealthy and overbearing father comes with a price tag not worth paying for. She wants a life without his strings. Out on her own, she’s made a few mistakes, including one that found her clawing her way back after a stint in rehab and plenty of bad press. Now, after fighting so hard to be independent and happy, she finds her life threatened as a result of her father’s questionable business dealings. She has no choice but to play ball when he hires an ex-SAS sniper to protect her at all costs.

Jake Sharp resides in his own personal hell. He had been distracted from duty once before and the consequences were devastating, both personally and professionally. He vowed to never let that happen again. Being the bodyguard to socialite model Camille is exactly the kind of low pressure job he needs. But he quickly comes to discover that Camille isn’t what he expected. She’s warm and emotionally generous, and she slowly succeeds in drawing him out of his tough exterior. Jake’s past haunts him. Camille’s presence settles him. But he can’t have both.

This is my first book by this author, and after watching people literally run across a casino in Vegas because this author walked by, I must admit I was curious. And, a little excited when I realized the ARC they were excited about was one I had on my Kindle.

I should have read it sooner. First, Jake. I love a hero named Jake. Especially this hero named Jake. He is so adorably flawed, he has his secrets and the things about himself that he thinks make him unworthy to be loved by anyone. And then he meets Camille.

Cami is not what Jake was expecting...not at first and not later either. She is a model, but she is intelligent, she is not a brat, she has a heart. And an attraction for Jake that is definitely mutual.

Their chemistry sizzles and jumps right off the page. Their attraction is forbidden, Jake has a code (which I am guessing is the same for all bodyguards) that he does not get involved with the clients. And then he meets Cami.

I enjoyed this book. A lot. The pacing was almost perfect, although I thought the parts with her brother dragged the story a little bit. The characters were wonderful, and you not only liked them but related to them.

This is my first book by this author and it will definitely NOT be my last.

I hate it when I am in the minority with a book that my book friends have loved, I liked The Protector but I wasn’t blown away like I had hoped to be.  Maybe it was my mood when I started it, maybe it was the book and it’s pacing that caused me to not love it as much as others, but whatever the case may be, for this book whore The Protector was just good, not great.  Now before you all boo and hiss at me I did think the storyline and basis for the book was solid, I just wasn’t drawn in and hooked.  I would get bored and set it aside and not wanting to pick it right back up to read like I have with her other books.  It sucks that I feel this way, it really does, I hate this feeling like is there something wrong with me that I didn’t love it like everyone else?  I loved Jake, and I loved Cami so I just don’t get my lack of enthusiasm for The Protector.  With all of that being said I do still recommend this book to my readers, I do this because I really do feel like it was my mood at the time that made me only like it.

British talent Jodi Ellen Malpas sold hundreds of thousands of e-books of her passionately erotic trilogy This Man before landing a major US publishing deal and sailing straight to the top of the New York Times bestsellers chart in a few short months. Success quickly followed in the UK, with thousands of readers falling head-over-heels for the devastatingly handsome Lord of the Manor Jesse Ward and his feisty counterpart, Ava O’Shea, as all three books became major Sunday Times bestsellers. This was followed by further success with her second series One Night, which introduced the irresistibly enigmatic M.

Jodi was born and raised in the Midlands town of Northampton, England, where she lives with her two boys and a beagle. She is a self-professed daydreamer, a Converse and, mojito addict, and has a terrible weak spot for Alpha Males.
