About me

Hi I'm Janna and I am a book whore! I started this blog after being a part of another for years. While being a big blog may be nice I like to stay true to me having a love for books, that's why I blog. I love books and I want to share that love with my readers of this blog. I love to read, books are my escape and a huge part of my life besides my husband and two children. I am honest and sometimes sassy in my reviews but never mean. Some of my favorite authors include Kristen Ashley, Penelope Douglas, T.M. Frazier, M.N. Forgy, Rachel Van Dyken, Meghan March and Vi Keeland to only name a few!

Release Blitz! Neighbor Dearest By Penelope Ward

A STANDALONE NOVEL that does NOT need to be read in conjunction with any other book.

From New York Times bestselling author, Penelope Ward, comes a friends-to-lovers story with sexy new characters.

After getting dumped, the last thing I needed was to move next door to someone who reminded me of my ex-boyfriend, Elec.

Damien was a hotter version of my ex.

The neighbor I’d dubbed “Angry Artist” also had two massive dogs that kept me up with their barking.

He wanted nothing to do with me. Or so I thought until one night I heard laughter coming through an apparent hole in my bedroom wall.

Damien had been listening to all of my phone sessions with my therapist.
The sexy artist next door now knew all of my deepest secrets and insecurities.

We got to talking.

He set me straight with tips to get over my breakup.

He became a good friend, but Damien made it clear that he couldn’t be anything more.

Problem was, I was falling hard for him anyway. And as much as he pushed me away, I knew he felt the same…because his heartbeat didn’t lie.

I thought my heart had been broken by Elec, but it was alive and beating harder than ever for Damien.

I just hoped he wouldn’t shatter it for good.

Author's note – Neighbor Dearest is a full-length standalone novel. Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

I have tried to write two other reviews tonight but I can’t until I get this one done, I guess it is sort of like when authors are saying their characters are speaking to them, my review is speaking to me. I finished Neighbor Dearest earlier this afternoon, because I wasn’t able to read like I normally do it took me 3 days to finish it. I love Penelope Ward’s books very much but this review is a hard one for me to write, don’t worry I really loved the book but I am torn and I will explain why.

I guess I should start off stating I am Team Elec and Team Justin all the way, if you aren’t sure what books they are from Elec is from Stepbrother Dearest and Justin is from RoomHate. Now I know you are wondering why I am bringing this up, well I think you may need to understand who some of the characters are because we have seen them before. Chelsea was Elec’s girlfriend before he got with Greta and Jade, Chelsea’s sister was Justin’s girlfriend before he got with Amelia. So keep this information in mind.

Chelsea is heartbroken over being broken up by Elec, so much so that it is almost controlling her life, at times she comes across as overly needy, annoying, and dependent on a relationship to define her. Her sister is going through the same thing as she is so to say they both bash (not overly so but remember whose team I am) on Elec and Jade’s ex. Instead of trying to move on she is constantly questioning what she did wrong for Elec to leave her for someone else. I get it, I really do and I felt bad for Chelsea up to a point, and you can ask one of my fellow bloggers who is a very good friend of mine, I did not like Chelsea at all, until I saw something in her change, and while I can’t say I will ever love her, I did begin to like her and when she finally showed some strength in herself that is when I started to like her even more.

Damien, and now he isn’t from The Omen and he isn’t the Antichrist contrary to what Chelsea believes at first even if he has the matching dogs to contradict it. He just so happens to be the asshole who lives next door with the two large barking dogs, and who defaces the building with his art. Oh did I mention he is also her landlord and an artist? Nope? Well that was just the icing on the cake. I personally loved Damien and wished we would have had chapters from his POV. He wants Chelsea but doesn’t want a relationship with her. Why you may ask? Well you will have to read the book to find out because that is one aspect I will not spoil. Damien is smart, he is sexy, he is broody, he is funny and he is talented. So maybe I am Team Damien too because well he’s hot and while he maybe devilish at times he really is an amazing guy.

Neighbor Dearest really is a book about understanding that sometimes you didn’t do anything wrong when your relationship didn’t work, it is about healing, putting yourself out there again even when your trust has been broken. Neighbor Dearest will help renew your faith in love after your heart has been broken and the old saying that everything happens for a reason, sometimes that reason is so that you end up with who you are really meant to be with, it just took a little heart break along the way to get you there.

Neighbor Dearest is LIVE and on limited-time release sale for $3.99 (Changing to $4.99 after release. This will be the ONLY sale.) A sexy STANDALONE friends-to-lovers story that does NOT have to be read in conjunction with any other book.
