About me

Hi I'm Janna and I am a book whore! I started this blog after being a part of another for years. While being a big blog may be nice I like to stay true to me having a love for books, that's why I blog. I love books and I want to share that love with my readers of this blog. I love to read, books are my escape and a huge part of my life besides my husband and two children. I am honest and sometimes sassy in my reviews but never mean. Some of my favorite authors include Kristen Ashley, Penelope Douglas, T.M. Frazier, M.N. Forgy, Rachel Van Dyken, Meghan March and Vi Keeland to only name a few!

ARC Review! Pretending With the Greek Billionaire by Kira Archer

Always the life of the party, Luca Vasilakis needs to prove he’s capable of taking over his father’s billion-dollar corporation. The perfect opportunity falls in his arms in the form of the reserved but sexy social worker Constance McMurty. What
better way to improve his reputation than to get engaged to a do-gooder who is raising six orphans?

Constance wants nothing to do with Luca. But a poorly timed paparazzi photo lands her in the middle of a media nightmare, and Luca is her only way out. He proposes an idea that will help them both—be his fiancée to gain him some respectability and he’ll make a huge donation to her organization…and save her reputation.

But when their lie starts feeling like the truth, and the chemistry just won’t stop, they have a hard time separating what’s real and what’s fantasy…
So, no. I wanted to like this, the premise seemed amusing...the whole Brady Bunch idea. But what I got was the most judgmental, sanctimonious and bitchy heroine, well, ever.

I thought she was rude, condescending, preachy, and just plain impossible to like. For example...Constance moves into Luca's home to assist with maintaining the charade. She brings the children with her...fine. None of them all babies. None of them. But she proceeds to lecture Luca on how the house needs to be arranged (and maybe some things, like keeping the alcohol out of reach of children) were reasonable...but her reaction of essentially bagging up the contents of the room when he tells her to go ahead and make it reasonable to have kids in it? She was being a complete bitch. For the sake of being a complete bitch. This annoyed me.

Kids will be kids, and bringing 6 children into a home, and with a person, who is not accustomed to having children around will bring humor and amusing, and heartwarming situations...even if there is no one there in the role of tyrannical, overprotective, harsh, intentionally condescending Constance.

That said, I did believe her character enough to react strongly to her. Which is something. I guess. I am certain there are people out there like her, who would behave in this manner, I just don't want to know them, or spend time with them. Or read about them.

I think, as readers, you are supposed to sympathize with her because they are CHILDREN and they are ORPHANS. But, Constance was such a bitch, all I could think was that Luca, and the children, could do better. A lot better.

Needless to say, I was not able to connect with a romance between Constance and Luca as I was never convinced he would want anything to do with her.
