It is wrong to love her.
It is worse to want her.
It is sin to consume her.
I desire all three.
I've been given thirty days to prove my love to another immortal--as a human. Cursed to use nothing but the side of myself I've always despised to win her affection. I am Cassius, the King of the immortals, A Dark One.
And today I tasted fear for the first time.
How can I win her when my human emotions over take every ounce of logic I possess?
A darkness is brewing.
One I cannot stop as a human.
One that Stephanie, my loves visions, have shown, will be my end.
Thirty days ago I was King of the immortals.
Today I know fear.
Today I know how I will die.
By her hand.
The woman I love.
I am totally in love with Rachel Van Dyken and her writing. She has this amazing ability to suck her readers in so thoroughly that you are addicted to each series and need more immediately when you finish a book. Untouchable Darkness is no exception. I was extremely curious to see how Cassius would be in this book. If you haven’t read the previous book, stop right this very second and go buy it and read it before not only reading this review but Untouchable Darkness. If you haven’t read the previous book there may be some spoilers given away in this review about what happened in the last book so you have been warned.
Cassius is the King of the immortals. He is to be feared. He is a Dark One and to love a Dark One to invite death. He is half human, half angel. He doesn’t feel or does he? Would someone who doesn’t feel sacrifice himself to save someone who believes he doesn’t love her, but isn’t that the ultimate sacrifice? Truths are revealed and more questions remain but in Untouchable Darkness we get to see a side of Cassius I didn’t think we ever would see. He is human and is feeling human emotions, human aches, human hungers, and human pains and for someone like him it is humbling at times.
Stephanie has loved Cassius for so long, when she learns the truth of who she is and what was done to protect her she still isn’t prepared for all that she will face. She has to be taught by Cassius to fight back the darkness before it consumes her, she is lethal without training and is currently basically a ticking time bomb because of her emotions. Will she be the death of Cassius or will she be what saves him from death?
Untouchable Darkness may be book two in this saga but it has opened up more questions and more doors that we may or may not want to know what is behind them.. The balance with immortals is at risk of becoming unbalanced and when the reasoning behind it is discovered; well it can only mean more scary things in the future. I am so anxiously awaiting the next book now, I am hooked and need to find out if a certain Siren will meet his match or not.
