About me

Hi I'm Janna and I am a book whore! I started this blog after being a part of another for years. While being a big blog may be nice I like to stay true to me having a love for books, that's why I blog. I love books and I want to share that love with my readers of this blog. I love to read, books are my escape and a huge part of my life besides my husband and two children. I am honest and sometimes sassy in my reviews but never mean. Some of my favorite authors include Kristen Ashley, Penelope Douglas, T.M. Frazier, M.N. Forgy, Rachel Van Dyken, Meghan March and Vi Keeland to only name a few!

Please note that I am the ONLY reviewer on the blog beyond a few guest reviews. It has been brought to my attention that people not associated with my blog have been requesting ARCs please if you ever question a request please email me at the blog's email.

Release Blitz! Sketch By Laramie Briscoe

My name is Devin, but everybody calls me Sketch. I opened my own tattoo shop two years ago, and I’ve finally gotten to the point where I’m going to be able to give my wife everything she’s ever wanted. I’m going to be able to take time off and spend a day a week with her. In fact, tonight, I stopped and grabbed some wine, got her flowers, and those chocolates she likes.

What I wasn’t prepared for was to be met at the front door by her carrying her sh*t out.

She loves me, but she’s not in love with me anymore. What kind of bulls*it excuse is that? I’ve left her alone too often, I’ve been completely focused on one goal, and apparently she’s sick of waiting.

So here I stand. Half the man I was, p*ssed as f*ck, because while I was busy making a better life for us, she was under the impression I was leaving her lonely. I know one day she’ll see what I’ve been doing has been for us, and when that day comes… She can damn well come crawling back to me.
When I heard that Laramie Briscoe was working on something that was different than her normal books I was immediately curious and said sign me up!  Sketch is what she was working on and I have had this arc on my kindle for a while but wanted to wait until closer to release day to read and review it.  Why did I wait!  I wish I could go back in time and start Sketch as soon as I received it.

When Devin’s aka Sketch wife leaves him six months ago, it changes him, his priorities and while it didn’t completely break him, it broke enough to know the wound still hadn’t healed.  Nina walks away, she feels like Sketch no longer has time for her, doesn’t prioritize their marriage enough and has had enough.  Normally I am all for a woman standing up for herself when her husband/boyfriend/man begins to ignore them but I wasn’t on team Nina for the majority of the book.  Maybe it is because Sketch is mainly in his POV so we get to see how he feels about the situation.  Sketch has improved himself, he is learning to prioritize when it comes to his shop and his life, but let me be perfectly clear here, Sketch is not perfect.  He is just as much to blame for the problems in their marriage.  When Nina comes back into his like I liked how he didn’t just fall at her feet begging for a second chance but also wasn’t a massive asshole once they started to work things out.  Both needed to grow up separately before being able to grow together. Are they able to work things out or will their relationship end?  Well you have to read the book to find out.

When I read Sketch I at the time was having some issues in my own marriage, and this book helped me look at the entire picture not just my side or his side of the problems.  What would you do if your husband needs a wakeup call, but not knowing you do as well?  What would you do to fix the issues?  Would you just give up or would you give it one more go and fight for what you want?  Sketch will open your eyes when it comes to the whole it’s his fault/her fault finger pointing we all do, what if it’s both parties faults and it takes both parties to work together to fix the problem?

Laramie Briscoe, I loved Sketch!  I loved how little cameos of some of our favorite characters were mentioned but didn’t take away from Sketch.  I loved the message you brought across on both sides and I loved how quickly I was engrossed into the storyline.  I highly recommend Sketch to any Laramie Briscoe fan and to anyone looking for a romance that reminds us to never stop working in our relationships and never take anyone for granted because they may leave you in the end if you don’t cherish them.
