For years, I lived for the job and let it control me. Violence was all I knew. I protected, killed, and served. My name is Blake Evans, one of the best undercover cops in the country. I thought I was about to live a quiet life on my ranch in Wyoming until an old friend showed up and changed everything. He brought me her, Hadley Rivers, country music sensation and the one woman I couldn't have. I didn't want her but she had me completely roped in.
My job is to protect her, to keep her away from some psycho who wants her for himself. However, there's more to her story than I was led to believe. I promised to keep her safe and I won't back down . . . even if I have to die trying. I can't let him have her.
I have had a hit or miss relationship with L.P. Dover. I love some books, don’t love others, but I still go back to read more because I am always hoping that I will love what I am reading by her. I did not like the previous book in this series, but didn’t want to give up on it quite yet. Hence the previous statement. So let me take away the suspense and state I did like this one, didn’t love it but in my opinion it was a million times better than the previous book.
This will be short and sweet because I have two sick kids and this book whore is exhausted so my review writing capabilities are short circuiting at the moment. Roped In roped me in pretty quickly and yes that horrible pun was intended. The suspense was the perfect amount to keep me on the edge of my seat, the humor kept a smile on my face and the sexiness that is Blake had me wishing he was my protection. I also may have wanted to slap him a couple of times, but like most alpha males they tend to try the patience of their women but make up for it in the end. Hadley was the perfect mix of sweet, sassy, and caring. I really liked her character, and most female characters tend to annoy me in one way or another so when I like one enough to mention it then you know it’s a big deal.
Roped In is the second book in the Armed and Dangerous series and it will rope you in to not only loving the book but Blake and Hadley as well.
